Vol. 229 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Forestry Land.

35.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state (a) the total area acquired for forestry purposes in County Cork at the end of March, 1967; (b) the number of acres that are productive forest land; (c) the number of acres planted; and (d) if he envisages any changes in the system and type of afforestation carried on in this country.

The information is: (a) 79,422 acres; (b) 75,470 acres; (c) 66,255 acres under woods and plantations; and (d) methods and techniques are, of course, evolving all the time but I do not envisage any fundamental change in the system and type of afforestation carried on in this country.
