Vol. 229 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Schools Health Service.

40.

asked the Minister for Health if the schools health service will be made available to pupils in post-primary schools after September next.

The group, comprising members of the staffs of my Department and of certain health authorities, which is carrying out a comprehensive review of the school health service and of the child welfare clinic service expect to submit their report to me shortly.

I will consider the feasibility of extending the school health service to pupils of post-primary schools in the light of the report. There is, however, at present no statutory authority for the provision of the service to such pupils.
