Vol. 229 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Free School Transport.

38.

asked the Minister for Education the number of school children in County Meath who have applied for free transport; and the number it will be possible to accommodate in September, 1967.

Mr. O'Malley

A total of 1,805 children attending post-primary schools in County Meath have applied for free transport as from September 1967. Free transport has already been provided for 918 of these children and service will be extended in September to the utmost extent that the availability of vehicles will allow. Pending the completion of the organisational arrangements for the county, I cannot at this stage give more precise information as to the total number who may be transported in September next.

I did not get the Minister's second figure—less than 100?

Mr. O'Malley

I gave a total of 1,805 children attending post-primary schools in County Meath as having already applied for free transport next September.

I did not get the second figure.

Mr. O'Malley

918.
