Vol. 229 No. 9

Written Answers. - Meath Water Supply Schemes.

55.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding each group water supply scheme in County Meath; the date of notification of each scheme to his Department; if he will give details of schemes for which money has been lodged but no work done; and if he will now agree to hand over the carrying out of the remaining schemes to Meath County Council as requested by them.

A summary statement of the position of these schemes will be compiled and sent to the Deputy.

As regards the last part of the question the position of group schemes in County Meath was reviewed by officials of my Department and of the county council. Arising out of this review the council were informed of arrangements proposed for closer co-operation between my Department and the council and for extending the functions of the council so as to provide certain facilities for groups. They were also informed that in view of the arrangements proposed the suggested transfer of responsibility for the administration of the schemes did not appear to be necessary.
