Vol. 230 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Registration of Trade Unions.

29.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the names of trade unions registered with the Registrar of Friendly Societies under section 2, subsection (3), of the Trade Union Act, 1913.

Under section 2, subsection (3) of the Trade Union Act, 1913, a trade union which has not been registered may apply to the Registrar of Friendly Societies for a certificate that the union is a trade union within the meaning of that Act.

Unions to which certificates have been granted are listed in the annual reports of the Registrar, copies of which are available in the Library of the House. A certificate has been granted to one union since the most recent report, and the full list is now: Electricity Supply Board Staff Association; The Irish Nurses' Union; Cumann Bun Mháistrí Poist (SubPostmasters' Union); Post Office Officials' Association.
