Vol. 230 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Central Engineering Workshop Employees.

42.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that two men employed at the Central Engineering Workshop, Inchicore, Dublin for the past nine and 14 months as acting assistant storekeeper clerks have recently been appointed full-time to the grade referred to but that the conditions of appointment are that they would only receive five weeks sick pay for illness incurred in any 12 month period notwithstanding the fact that 13 weeks sick pay has applied to this grade for a long number of years; and if, having regard to the fact that it is good employer-trade union practice not to worsen a worker's conditions, he will make the necessary arrangements to ensure that the concession of 13 weeks sick pay in this case will be maintained.

I am having another look at this and I will communicate with the Deputy during the recess.
