Vol. 230 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bottled Gas Grants.

21.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will make bottled gas grants available to old age pensioners living in areas not yet serviced by the ESB but for which service is planned in a few years.

Under the bottled gas scheme administered by my Department grants, up to a maximum of £10, are made available for the installation of bottled gas by householders whether old age pensioners or otherwise who have not got electricity and who, because of their location, could not be connected to the electricity supply except on the basis of special service charges of more than 100 per cent of the normal fixed charge applicable to their premises. I do not propose to make any changes in the conditions governing payment of these grants.
