Vol. 230 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - NAC Representation for Sheep Farmers.

32.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he intends to give a nomination for representation on the National Agricultural Council to the mountain sheep farmers and their combined associations; if he is aware of the urgency of such a nomination in order to protect the interests and future prospects of these farmers in the West of Ireland and elsewhere; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is my intention to nominate to the National Agricultural Council a person who has experience and knowledge of sheep husbandry, including the problems of sheep production in western and mountain areas. A number of names of suitable persons have been suggested to me and I intend to make a nomination in the near future.
