Vol. 230 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Telephone Kiosk.

11.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange to have a public telephone kiosk erected at the old people's flats in Botanic Avenue, Dublin.

Another kiosk in this area is not warranted at present.

Would the Minister not reconsider his point of view in connection with this matter, having regard to the fact that this service is required for old people, some of whom contend that they have to travel approximately half a mile before they reach a telephone?

The nearest kiosk is less than a quarter of a mile away. It is 420 yards away, in Iona Crescent.

A quarter of a mile for old people is far too much, particularly having regard to the weather we experience here. Would the Minister not reconsider the situation, realising that it is old people who are concerned in this matter?

It entails a walk of half a mile.

I am informed it is less than a quarter of a mile.

They have not got a State car.
