Vol. 230 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supplementary Irish Examination.

57.

Mr. Barrett

asked the Minister for Education the number of (a) boys and (b) girls who were required to sit for the special supplementary examination in Irish this year.

Mr. O'Malley

This year 224 boys and 152 girls sat for the special supplementary examination in Irish in the leaving certificate.

In all only slightly over one per cent of the candidates sitting for the leaving certificate examination failed solely because of failure in Irish.
