Vol. 230 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - House Reconstruction Grants.

12.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will increase the amount of grants for the reconstruction of dwelling houses, as the cost of materials and labour is constantly increasing.

The scale of grants available for the reconstruction of houses was fully considered at all stages of the Housing Act, 1966. Having regard to the progressive increases in these grants since 1948, and the present high level of demand for them, a further increase at this stage is not justified.
