Vol. 231 No. 5

Suspension of Member.

I move:

That Deputy Coughlan be suspended from the service of the House.

Further arising from the Minister's reply, in view of the newspaper statements here in which the Minister for Education stated categorically——

Deputies

Chair.

I am putting the question that Deputy Coughlan be suspended from the House.

Wait a moment.

For what?

I am putting the question, and no Deputy can intervene when the question is being put.

(Interruptions.)
Question put and declared carried.

Deputy Coughlan will leave the House.

I demand clarification of these contradictory statements by two Ministers.

Since Deputy Coughlan has refused to leave the House, I call on the Captain to escort him from the Chamber.

There is no necessity for the Captain to escort Deputy Coughlan at all. I presume you put the question to the House and declared it carried. I am calling for a vote.

I want to remind you Deputy Coughlan has the use of his own limbs.

(Interruptions.)
Question put: "That Deputy Coughlan be suspended from the service of the House."

Question declared carried.

I will ask Deputy Coughlan to leave the House.

I am sorry for the attitude and the steps you have taken on this matter.

There can be no discussion.

I wanted to expose the double dealing and false promises of two Ministers.

Deputy Coughlan withdrew from the Chamber.

Question No. 2.

A Cheann Comhairle——

I have called Question No. 2. Question No. 1 has been disposed of.

(Interruptions.)

I would ask Deputy O'Donnell to resume his seat and allow Question No. 2 to be taken.

I have asked a supplementary question and the Minister has refused to reply.

This is totally out of order on Question No. 2.

I have asked a supplementary question arising out of Question No. 1.

It has been disposed of. If Deputy O'Donnell refuses to resume his seat and listen to the Minister's answer to Question No. 2, I will ask him to leave the House.

I protest at the manner in which I have been prevented from trying to ventilate this.

The Deputy must leave the House without further discussion.

It is most unfair. The people of Limerick have been misled deliberately.

(Interruptions.)

Deputy O'Donnell cannot treat the House in this fashion.

Nor should those fellows be allowed to behave in that fashion.

(Interruptions.)

I will leave the House because there is no point in remaining any further. Justice is not being done.

Deputy T. O'Donnell withdrew from the Chamber.
