Vol. 231 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

11.

asked the Minister for Local Government what assistance by way of grants and technical aid he is prepared to give to expedite the provision of a group water supply system to meet the needs of 200 families in the townlands of Garrymore, Ballyboy, Tubrid, Bella, Castlegrace, Kilcommon, Ballylooby, Carrigataha and Monroe at Cahir, County Tipperary, as this area will not be catered for in the proposed regional piped water scheme.

The design of a scheme for this area is being prepared by the engineer appointed by the group. Technical assistance by the officers of my Department has been given to the group since the inception of the scheme and will continue to be afforded until work is completed.

A grant of up to £60 will be paid by my Department in respect of each eligible house in the scheme. A supplementary grant of up to the same amount may be paid by the Tipperary (SR) County Council.

12.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in approving the Cloone-Mohill regional water supply scheme, County Leitrim.

13.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in approving the Carrickon-Shannon regional water supply scheme, County Leitrim.

I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 12 and 13 together.

The Cloone-Mohill and Carrick-onShannon regional water supply schemes form, in effect, one single regional scheme.

The overall scheme is included in a review of regional schemes generally, which is at present being carried out by sanitary authorities throughout the country.

A decision on the scheme must await the completion of this review.

14.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will make arrangements for the installation of a new sewerage system for Ladysbridge village, County Cork.

There are no proposals before my Department for a new sewerage system for Ladysbridge village and I understand that the Cork County Council have no immediate proposals for a scheme for the area.
