Vol. 231 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Housing Schemes.

7.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position in relation to the proposed housing scheme in Rathmore, County Kerry.

A compulsory purchase order for the acquisition of a site for a group of six to eight cottages at Rathmore was submitted to my Department on 4th instant and is being examined at present.

8.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position in relation to the proposed housing scheme for Sneem, County Kerry.

A compulsory purchase order, which was submitted to my Department on 4th instant in respect of a site for two cottages at Sneem, is under examination. I understand from the council that their efforts to acquire further land in the area for housing, by agreement, are being continued.

9.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether Kerry County Council have yet acquired a housing site in Kenmare, County Kerry; and, if so, what is the present position in relation to the proposed housing scheme for the area.

I am informed by Kerry County Council that negotiations for the acquisition of a housing site in Kenmare have not yet been concluded by them.

There are no houses being built.

They cannot be built without land.

The Minister should have said "without money".

There is plenty of money and more houses than ever before are being built.

Where are they?

If people go around with their eyes shut, they cannot but fail to see them, but if Deputy L'Estrange would open his eyes he will see them all around him.

It is like the church gate factories—making promises at election times.
