Vol. 231 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Increase.

1.

asked the Taoiseach the reason for the increase in the number of unemployed over the past few weeks as compared with the corresponding period of 1966.

The fact that the Employment Period Orders were in operation last year, but not this year, contributed largely to the differences in the comparative Live Register totals for the period up to the 1st November. Since then, there has been a continuous reduction in the differences.

The Industrial Analysis of the Live Register as at mid-November, due to be published about the 8th December next, will set out the changes, and the reasons therefor so far as they can be determined, since the corresponding date last year.
