Vol. 231 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Planning Regions.

10.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will accede to the expressed wishes of Tipperary Urban District Council that Tipperary town be included in the Limerick region for planning purposes as the town is only 24 miles from Limerick city and is 54 miles from Waterford.

The nine physical planning regions are tentative groupings of convenient areas, for the purpose of the regional studies which are currently in progress. It is envisaged that the boundaries of the regions will be reviewed in due course in the light of the studies and of their consideration by the Regional Development Committee, and by other interests. In the meantime, the views of Tipperary Urban District Council have been noted and have been brought to the notice of the planning consultants concerned.
