Vol. 231 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Corporation Deputation.

54.

asked the Minister for Health if he has received an application from Cork Corporation asking him to receive a deputation of members of the Corporation on the apportionment of the supplementary health grant to Cork Health Authority for 1967-68; if he intends to receive the deputation as proposed at a corporation meeting held on Friday, 24th November; and the date for receiving the deputation.

I have received the application from Cork Corporation referred to by the Deputy.

The question of the apportionment of the health grant payable to Cork Health Authority was referred to in my reply to a question from the Deputy on 16th November, 1967, and I dealt with the matter in more detail in the Adjournment Debate on that date. I then explained that I had ascertained that the health authority was satisfied that the sharing of the net costs of the health services by Cork County Council and Cork Corporation should be determined by the agreement entered into by theses bodies in February, 1966. I also explained that I considered this to be the legally correct course and that it is fair and reasonable. In the circumstances, I do not consider that any useful purpose would be served by receiving the proposed deputation.

Is the Minister aware that this application from Cork Corporation took place at a meeting nine days after he answered a question in this House, and that we are very happy with the Minister's assurance now that there is no hope of this bunch of "luthers" carrying this game any further?

The less said about that the better.

Without the "h"—"looters".

If a Mayoman said that, we know what would happen to him.
