Vol. 231 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Planning Application.

19.

asked the Minister for Local Government if it is correct that a housing society (name supplied) applied for outline planning permission in respect of lands adjacent to Limerick in 1964; and that this permission was refused by Limerick Corporation on 30th September, 1964; and whether any appeal was taken from that refusal.

Two applications for planning permission for housing development on a site near Limerick were made to Limerick Corporation in 1964 by the housing society in question. Both applications were refused—one on the 25th January, 1964, and the other on 30th September, 1964. An appeal was lodged with the Minister for Local Government only in the case of the refusal of 25th January, 1964. The site came under the control of Clare County Council with the coming into operation of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, on 1st October, 1964, and a fresh application for outline permission was then made to the new planning authority who decided on 20th November, 1964, to grant the application subject to conditions. The appeal lodged in relation to the application to Limerick Corporation was subsequently withdrawn.
