asked the Minister for Finance the total floor area in square feet rented by the State in Annesley House, Mespil Road, Dublin; the date on which the term for such renting commenced; the amount of such floor space unoccupied on 1st January, 1st April, 1st July and 1st October in each of the years 1966 and 1967; and, if any reconstruction or internal partitioning or other work was done in such premises, the total cost thereof.

The building in question, which is held on lease by the State since 25th September, 1965, contains approximately 55,000 square feet of floor space.

Occupation began in May, 1966, with the transfer of the Labour Court to approximately 8,800 square feet. This was followed by the transfer in June, 1966, of An Cheard Chomhairle to some 6,000 square feet. In July, 1966, about 19,200 square feet was taken up by the Department of Labour and between December, 1966, and June, 1967, about 1,050 square feet by the Public Services Organisation Review Group. Further areas of 3,100 square feet, 2,550 square feet and 6,500 square feet were taken up by the Department of Labour and An Chomhairle Oiliúna in June, 1967, September, 1967, and November, 1967, respectively. In November, 1967, Department of Agriculture staff were transferred to the remaining 7,800 square feet.

The total cost of adapting the building for the various occupants is approximately £50,000.
