Vol. 231 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Schools.

39.

asked the Minister for Education if it is his intention to build a central school for the parish of Ballymacoda catering for the pupils of the present national schools of Kilcredan and Kilmacdonagh, County Cork; if he is aware that at a general meeting of the parents of both school districts it was unanimously decided to have the school in or near the village of Ballymacoda an equal distance from the present two schools; and if he will have the proposals for the location of the school very carefully examined so as to put the least hardship on the children and to protect the public funds used for transport.

Mr. O'Malley

My information is that the majority of the parents are in favour of a central school at Kilcredan. My Department intends to sanction the erection of the central school there provided the site offered is suitable in all respects.

All the children from the Kilmacdonagh school district will be eligible for free transport to the new school.

40.

asked the Minister for Education the proposals for national schools in the Blarney district of County Cork; and when it is intended to build the new national school there.

Mr. O'Malley

I would refer the Deputy to my reply of the 9th November, 1967.

My Department is in communication with the Reverend Manager regarding the provision of a suitable site for the proposed new school for girls at Blarney.
