Vol. 231 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Decimal Currency.

20.

asked the Minister for Finance the names of organisations that have indicated their preference for each of the following decimal currency systems: (a) £1-new penny, (b) £1-mill, (c) florin-cent and (d) other systems.

As I regard the communications I received on the choice of a decimal unit as confidential, it would not be appropriate for me to disclose the views of any particular organisation without permission. The organisations are, of course, free to publish their views if they so desire and some have done so.

Will the Minister give the number of representations he has got in each case, without the names?

Yes — six associations.

All for one? For (a) or (b)?

All varied.

Can he split them?

For six, it does not matter.
