Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Persons at Work.
1.
Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries (Mr. Davern) (for the Taoiseach)
Preliminary estimates derived from the 1966 Census of Population indicate that in 1966 the number of persons at work in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing was 333,500 and in non-Agricultural economic activity 732,700. Corresponding estimates for the main branches of non-agricultural economic activity will shortly become available and will be given in the volume "The Trend of Employment and Unemployment in 1966" which will be published before the end of the month.
That is exactly 100,000 fewer than it was in 1956.
