Vol. 232 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Trunk Call Accounts.

6.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will comment on the practice of the telephone accounts section of his Department in charging for the furnishing to telephone subscribers on request of full particulars of trunk calls, which information is essential for subscribers in reconciling accounts issued by his Department; if he considers that the making available of detailed itemised accounts on request is in the general interest of subscribers; and if he will ensure that the telephone accounts section will in future make full details of trunk calls available to subscribers free of charge on request.

A charge is made where full details of trunk calls are required with each quarterly account. This charge is to cover the extra cost involved in furnishing the additional details, and must, I regret, be maintained. No charge is made where a subscriber occasionally requests details of certain calls in a particular quarter.
