Vol. 232 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grants of Probate and Administration.

136.

Mr. Barrett

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state, in respect of each of the three years ended respectively 31st December, 1965, 31st December, 1966, and 31st December, 1967, and in respect of each district probate registry, (a) the total amount received by the Exchequer by way of probate or administration fees and stamp duties; (b) the number of applications for grants of probate or administration made by the applicants in person; and (c) the total number of all applications for grants of probate or administration.

The answer is in the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report.

No record is kept of Revenue stamp duties payable on documents lodged in District Probate Registries. The amount of such duties would, however, be insignificant.

Following is the statement:

District Probate Registry

(a) Total amount received by way of probate and administration fees

(b) Number of applications for grants of probate or administration made by the applicants in person

(c) Total number of all applications for grants of probate or administration
