Vol. 232 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sewage Disposal.

23.

asked the Minister for Local Government how the regulations of Dublin Corporation concerning sewage disposal with regard to minimising the danger of typhoid infection compare with regulations in similar cities in Britain and Europe.

There are no statutory regulations governing the treatment and disposal of sewage in Dublin and so far as I am aware there are no such regulations in Britain or Europe.

I understand that the danger of typhoid infection in so far as sanitary environment is concerned arises when drinking water is contaminated by typhoid bacilli. The Dublin water supply is adequately treated for the elimination of the danger of typhoid.
