asked the Minister for Transport and Power the amounts of loans and the rates of interest of loans sanctioned for the purpose of harbour development and reconstruction for each of the years 1957 to 1967 under the Harbour Acts 1946 and 1947; and which harbours benefited from the moneys made available.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate the reply with the Official Report.

In the case of loans from the Local Loans Fund the rate of interest is that prevailing at the date of issue and in the case of Bank loans the rate var ies in accordance with variations from time to time in Bank rates. The rate of interest in the case of two commercial loans amounting to £120,000 in 1957 for Dublin Harbour was 5½%.
