The terms of reference of this committee, which is under the chairmanship of Mr. Justice Budd, require it not only to examine the entire bankruptcy law, contained mainly in the Irish Bankrupt and Insolvent Act, 1857, and the Bankruptcy (Ireland) Amendment Act, 1872, with a view to having it brought up to date and consolidated but also to prepare comprehensive draft legislation to give effect to its recommendations. The committee has made considerable progress towards the completion of this onerous task, but I am not yet in a position to say when its report will be presented.
