40.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he has plans to build any new Garda station in County Kildare; and, if so, where.

41.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he has any plans to build a new Garda station in Athy, County Kildare; and if so, if he will make a statement.

42.

asked the Minister for Justice if it is proposed to erect a new Garda station at Athy, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 40, 41 and 42 together.

A new Garda station, together with four Garda houses, is under construction at Newbridge, and is expected to be completed in a year's time.

It has been decided to build a new station at Athy, but the Commissioners of Public Works have so far not been successful in acquiring a suitable site. The Commissioners are seeking temporary accommodation for the Gardaí pending the provision of the new permanent station.

The question of erecting new stations at a number of other centres in County Kildare is being examined at present, but I cannot say at this stage how soon developments may be expected.
