asked the Minister for Local Government if he will clarify for USA citizens resident in Ireland the position regarding their franchise in this country.

Under the Constitution, a person may not vote at a Dáil or Presidential election or at a Referendum unless he is an Irish citizen. There is no citizenship requirement for entitlement to vote at local elections.
