Vol. 233 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Leitrim River Drainage.

25.

asked the Minister for Finance if plans are being prepared for the drainage of the Bonet and other rivers in County Leitrim; if so, what stages those plans have reached; and when drainage work will start on these schemes.

Work on the design of a scheme for the Bonet is still advanced but it is yet too early to say when works can be begun as the scheme will have to be exhibited in accordance with the Act.

As I said in reply to a question last week it is hoped to have the greater part of the survey of the Owenmore catchment completed this year.

A small portion of Leitrim is in the River Erne catchment for which a scheme is being prepared.

A scheme for the Kilcoo river on the Leitrim-Fermanagh border was exhibited recently. I hope that a start on works will be possible this year.
