Vol. 233 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork City Valuations.

28.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of valuations revised or sought to be revised by the Commissioner of Valuation in Cork city during the past 12 months to the latest available date; and if he will give details of the aggregate increases in valuation under each heading.

The valuation Acts provide that listings for revision of valuation are to be compiled by the local authorities and left open by them for public inspection and that subsequently the Revised Valuation Lists are to be issued by the Commissioner of Valuation to the respective local authorities and left open by them for public inspection. Accordingly, enquiries about the revision of valuations should be addressed to the local authorities concerned.

As a courtesy to the Deputy on this occasion, I have obtained from the Commissioner of Valuation the information sought by him, which is as follows. The number of properties listed by the Cork City Manager for revision of valuation with effect from 1st March, 1968, was 2,270. This number includes some cases in which no change in valuation resulted. The aggregate increase in valuation in Cork County Borough in consequence of these listings was £23,568 14s, made up as follows:

I should like to add that, for the future, I do not propose to deal with questions, appropriate to the local authorities, about matters of detail in relation to the revision of valuation.
