As stated in paragraph 42 of the White Paper on the Health Services and their Further Development, the Government propose to substitute for the dispensary service a service with the greatest practicable choice of doctor. I indicated the present position of the discussions with representatives of the medical professions in my reply to questions by Deputies Connor, Kyne and O'Connell about the proposed White Paper legislation.
