Vol. 234 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Vocational Schools.

40.

asked the Minister for Education if his Department will sanction the proposals of Kerry County Vocational Education Committee (a) for major extensions to schools at the Causeway, Killarney and Listowel, (b) for less major extensions to schools at Killorglin, Dingle, Waterville and Raheen and (c) for the provision of a new vocational school at Ballylongford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department gave approval in principle on 23rd April for the first stage of the proposed extension to Listowel vocational school. Examination of the proposals to extend Causeway and Killarney schools is nearing completion and a decision will be conveyed to the committee in the near future.

My Department's examination of facilities and requirements at Killorglin, Dingle and Ballylongford centres is not completed and accordingly, I am not yet in a position to give a decision to the committee.

There are no proposals from the committee to provide permanent extensions to the schools at Waterville and Raheen.
