Vol. 234 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry House Grant.

25.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that a new house erection grant at the higher rate was refused to a person (name supplied) near Killarney, County Kerry who is a returned emigrant and whose main source of livelihood is derived from the pursuit of agriculture; whether he will give special reconsideration to the application; and whether he will clarify the extent to which the use of a house is taken into consideration in determining applications for the higher rate of new house erection grants from small farmers.

I am aware that the higher rate of grant was refused in this case and I do not propose to reconsider the application. Houses registered as guest houses with Bord Fáilte Éireann or used for other business purposes do not qualify for such grants.
