Vol. 234 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unsold Skim Milk Powder.

13.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the total tonnage of skim milk powder still remaining unsold from last year's stocks; and whether the recently negotiated order for 10,000 tons of skim milk powder from Mexico will be supplied from last year's stocks.

I do not think the disclosure of detailed information about stocks would be desirable from the commercial point of view, but I can say that the vast bulk of last year's production has been cleared.

The order for the supply of skim milk powder to Mexico was secured by An Bord Bainne acting as agent for the manufacturers of the powder and the filling of the order in accordance with its terms is entirely a matter for the firms concerned.

I should like to ask the Minister whether the 10,000 tons already in stock would be accepted by Mexico to fill this order or whether that is up to standard for them?

I have not information on that. I have no reason to believe that there is any problem about this at the moment.

I think there is.

It may well be true, but I am not aware of this.
