Vol. 234 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Polio and Diphtheria Immunisation.

31.

asked the Minister for Health whether he is satisfied with the present rate of immunisation for polio and diphtheria in Dublin.

Immunisation against polio and diphtheria in Dublin is primarily a matter for Dublin Health Authority.

I am informed by the authority that, while in the year 1967 the immunisation rates were satisfactory, the numbers of children brought for immunisation against these two diseases in the first three months of the current year decreased as compared with the corresponding period of last year.

The position is not considered to be satisfactory and the health authority have measures under consideration to improve the position. I will keep in touch with the authority regarding the matter.
