asked the Minister for Finance the number of civil servants on 1st January, 1968 who were (a) under 20 years of age and in receipt of salaries in excess of £1,000 per annum, (b) under 30 years of age and in receipt of salaries in excess of £2,000 per annum, (c) under 40 years of age and in receipt of salaries in excess of £3,000 per annum, and (d) under 50 years of age and in receipt of salaries in excess of £4,000 per annum.

The information sought by the Deputy is set out in a tabular statement which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to have circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

Civil Servants in specified age-groups who, on 1st January, 1968, were in receipt of salaries in excess of certain levels.

Number

(a) Under 20 years of age and in receipt of salaries in excess of £1,000 per annum

Nil

(b) Under 30 years of age and in receipt of salaries in excess of £2,000 per annum

(c) Under 40 years of age and in receipt of salaries in excess of £3,000 per annum

(d) Under 50 years of age and in receipt of salaries in excess of £4,000 per annum
