Vol. 235 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sligo-Leitrim Drainage.

16.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the lack of employment opportunities in many parts of the Sligo-Leitrim constituency; and if he is prepared to expedite the drainage of main rivers such as the Arrow, Owenmore, Bonnet, Easkey river and Grange river in order to give productive employment to arrest the high incidence of emigration.

The survey of the Arrow-Owenmore catchment has yet to be completed and work is in progress on the design of a scheme for the Bonnet catchment. The Easkey and Grange rivers will be considered later in the programme but at this stage it is not possible to say when work can be commenced on any scheme.
