Vol. 235 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Land Allotment.

69.

asked the Minister for Lands the reason why a smallholder (name supplied) in County Galway with a large family did not receive an allotment in the local Land Commission division.

The selection of allottees is a matter that is exclusively reserved to the Land Commissioners. I am informed that an application by the person mentioned for portion of the Burke estate at Cloonmoylan was fully considered in competition with other applications received but that, having regard to the limited acreage available for disposal—67 acres—it was not found possible to provide him with an allotment.
