Vol. 236 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannon Airport Passenger Traffic.

2.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the number of passengers from the US who have disembarked at Shannon Airport between 1st April, 1968, and 30th June, 1968; and the number for the corresponding period last year; and if he will indicate the likely volume of passenger traffic for the remainder of the present season up to 31st October, 1968.

The number of transatlantic passengers disembarking at Shannon in the period April to June, 1968, was 44,821 as against 39,286 in the corresponding period of 1967. Separate figures for the United States are not available.

In the absence of traffic estimates from the various airlines concerned, I am not in a position to give an estimate of the likely volume of traffic for the remainder of the season but the prospects seem to be reasonably good.
