Vol. 236 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - University Merger.

52.

asked the Minister for Education if the university merger as proposed will go through without further consultation with the teaching staffs of either college; or whether he will hold further talks with all parties concerned.

The Government's decision in relation to higher education generally can be given effect only through legislation. In the framing of that legislation the fullest consultation with the authorities concerned will be necessary. Arrangements are being made accordingly.

Any representations from interested parties will, as hitherto, receive the most careful consideration.
