Vol. 236 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification.

15.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power when applicants residing in rural areas which were redeveloped under the post-development ESB scheme in recent times, who did not accept the terms then quoted, may now expect to receive a supply of electricity.

I am informed by the ESB that they will continue their planned post-development work in rural areas until all areas in the country have been covered. It will then be possible to offer revised terms to householders in areas in which work had been completed before the reduction in charges this year. The board anticipate that this stage will be reached in 1971 and that the work will extend over a further two years to 1973.

16.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power when five applicants (names supplied) in County Sligo may expect to get electricity supply.

I am informed by the ESB that work under the Rural Electrification Post Development Scheme was completed in the area in question about two years ago and all householders had an opportunity of taking supply. The board do not envisage offering supply again to unconnected householders for about three years.
