The total amount borrowed, other than by means of temporary overdraft, by all local authorities, excluding harbour authorities, vocational education committees and committees of agriculture, in the period from 1st April, 1958, to 31st March, 1968, is estimated at £142.17 million. While particulars of the interest payable in respect of that borrowing are not available separately in my Department, the amount of interest paid on all outstanding debt was £12.06 million in respect of the year ended 31st March, 1968.
