Vol. 236 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - State Aid to Industry.

89.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the amount of State aid to industry, excluding agriculture, during the year ended 31st March, 1968; and the separate amounts for capital investment in private and public enterprises and tax reliefs or subsidies of any sort including waived or unpaid charges and losses on all enterprises.

The amount of State aid to industry provided by my Department for the year ended 31st March, 1968, was approximately £8,400,000. It would not be possible without a disproportionate amount of research to indicate the separate amounts for capital investment in private and public enterprises. The amount provided by way of subsidies was £150,000 and waived or unpaid charges on all enterprises amounted to £449,987.
