Vol. 237 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Examination Results.

59.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state in respect of the June, 1968, leaving and intermediate certificate examinations (a) in how many instances his Department issued results and marks which were subsequently found to be incorrect, and (b) in how many instances candidates were first notified by his Department that they had failed in subjects in one of these examinations where it was later ascertained that the candidates had passed the examination.

The results of the Certificate Examinations which are issued immediately after the completion of the marking are provisional and subject to further check. In this year's provisional results incorrect marks were shown in 17 cases. The revised marks resulted in 13 candidates reaching the pass mark in a subject where they were previously regarded as having failed and in six of these, candidates passed the examination as a whole following the revision.
