Vol. 237 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Limerick Speed Limits.

19.

asked the Minister for Local Government when speed limits will be put into effect in Kilbehenny and Caherdavin, County Limerick.

County Limerick was recently inspected in view of the many representations received for additional speed limits in that area. The village of Kilbehenny and the Caherdavin area were included in this inspection and the question of applying speed limits at these places is under consideration.

In view of the fact that both of these places are situated on busy main thoroughfares, particularly Caherdavin which is on the outskirts of Limerick city on the main road to Shannon and has a high percentage of traffic in relation to any road in the country and where school children have to cross every day, is there anything the Minister himself can do to expedite the erection of speed limit signs at both Kilbehenny and Caherdavin?

It is expected that the revised regulations will come into operation on 1st February.
