Vol. 237 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - ESB Fuel Costs.

15.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power what would have been the profit or loss figure if the ESB had been able to use only fuel sold to them at the equivalent average price of (a) native fuel and (b) imported fuel for all their generating during 1967-68.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that information requested is as follows:—

(a) deficit of £3,590,000 approx.

(b) surplus of £2,360,000 approx.

These figures are, of course, quite theoretical, as it would be impossible in practice to generate all the electricity required from native fuel or from imported fuel.
