Vol. 237 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Lusk (Dublin) Garda Station.

8.

asked the Minister for Finance when it is proposed to carry out alterations and repairs to Lusk Garda Station, County Dublin.

The question of alterations and repairs at this station is related to the review which the Minister for Justice is having made of the distribution of the Garda Force throughout the country.

Pending the outcome of this review the Commissioners of Public Works are not in a position to enter into any commitment in regard to works at Lusk Garda Station.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary inform me when this review will be completed?

I suggest the Deputy direct that question to the Minister for Justice.

In view of the acuteness of the problem and the urgency of the alterations to this particular Garda station would the Parliamentary Secretary try to expedite the matter?

I can assure the Deputy that any delay in improving the conditions under which these gardaí are living at the moment will not be the responsibility of the Office of Public Works.
