Vol. 237 No. 7

Ceisteann—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Waterford School Reconstruction.

17.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in making payment to a contractor (name supplied) for reconstruction work on Newtown School, Ballymacarbery, Clonmel, County Waterford; and the date on which work commenced.

The manager was authorised in December, 1967, to proceed with the reconstruction works. We were not advised of the date on which work commenced.

The accounts for the work were furnished in May, 1968. I regret that it took longer to deal with these accounts than it should have, due to great pressure of work in the local office. The grant due has now been paid to the manager who is responsible for payment to the contractor.
