Vol. 237 No. 7

Ceisteann—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Schools.

19.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state with reference to a reply to Question No. 5 of 20th November, 1968 (a) the names of the national schools newly-built in County Kerry since 1966 and (b) the names of those he proposes to build in the next two financial years.

The ten new schools completed in County Kerry since 1st January, 1968, are:—

Ballyduff, Dirreenanav (Tahilla), Drumclough, Fossa, Knockanure, Lissivigeen, Listellick, Lixnaw, Loughfouder, St. Josephs Monastery, Dingle.

The five schools at present being erected are:—

Asdee, Ballybunion Convent, Castledrum, Coars, Clogher.

It is not possible to name the individual schools which will be built in the next two years but the preparation of schemes is in hands for the following:

Ardfert, Ballyhearney, Caherdaniel, Duagh, Glen, Kilgarvan, Kilmurry, Lansdowne, Mastergeehy, Murhur, Portmagee, Ranalough.

Between these and other cases which may mature it is expected that twelve will reach the building stage in the next two financial years.

How many schools were closed in the last 12 months?

I do not know. The Question did not ask for that information. Anyway it should be directed to another Department.
